Brewed Ambition is a 2025 one-act musical adaption of Shakespeare's Macbeth, set in a struggling coffee shop. The writing is rich in comedy and the show's music is written in pop styles. This production was the staging premiere of the show.

Joey's direction for Brewed Ambition was to incorporate a ton of color and movement during the songs and then return to a less saturated wash in-between. The lighting design for this show is a bit of a magnum opus for me, including lighting cues every few seconds for most of the show, transfers in focus between different scenes taking place on stage, quick flashes and strobes aligned with music, button looks, and two spotlights I was directing live during the show.

Micheal Turnblom complimented the lighting design, especially in the interludes where he had imagined dance breaks which weren't included in this production. The lighting during those periods help to move the energy along in what would have been some somewhat awkward stretches.
